There has been an atmosphere of celebration since the morning of Tuesday 20 August 2024 in the streets of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (Manche). Of colorful costumes, families looking for entertainment, musicians on stand-by and lots of smiles on their faces.
Since 10 o’clock, the Traversées Tatihou festival has invaded the coastal town. We do there hats, hiking poles and pennants made from recycled materials. We also dance there at Quai Vauban, Envie de p’tit bal & The Irish session.
The festival celebrates its 30th anniversary in style with no less than 46 concerts!
Just before the snack, the mayor of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and department chair Jean Morin launched the major crossing in front of a large crowd gathered on the quay. “This year we are celebrating a unique event together: The 30th anniversary of Les Traversées Tatihou Festivalemphasized the latter. Already thirty years since this festival has emerged to become the cultural beacon of Saint-Vaast-la-Houge and a major vector of attractiveness for the Manche region.
Dancers, musicians and an impressive, colorful crowd then walked up the quays to the beach to make the traditional grand crossing from 16, which marks the start of the festival.
Again this year, the organizers gave giving honor to offshore music and Celtic horizons.
“More than a generation later, the festival has matured and built up a rich personality, open to the different cultures of the world, to other aesthetics and even disciplines, to ever more transmission and diversity. »

Until Sunday 25 August 2024, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (Manche), Tatihou Island and Val de Saire celebrate the 30th edition of the Traversées Tatihou to the sound of music from the sea.
On the program since Tuesday 20 August 2024: six days of celebrations including 46 concerts, shows and open stages, two walks, three walking concerts, six Irish sessions, twelve courses (dance, voice, instrument), five heritage visits, five meetings with artists at the media library, a cinema screening.
The artists in this edition? Carlos Nunez, Alan Stivell, François Morel, Cherish the ladies, A Filetta, My shoes are red, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Lewis Evans and the choir in Normandy, the choir of Marins du Cotentin, Menestrel, Cerys Hafana, La Banda Latira, Ital Express, Skolvan, War Sav, Cocanha, Kyrie Kristmanson, Parveen Khan, La Perla, Maaar…
It is the return of the great artists
As a symbol, a giant puppet 15 meters long accompanied festival-goers in the air during the opening flight.
On the programming side, we will have to take into account the return of singers who have already had the chance to come as Alan Stevell And Steve Waring (read their interviews elsewhere), or even Carlos Nuñez. The latter presents a creation specially created for the festival on Saturday evening.
No less than 46 concerts will reverberate in Val de Saire and Tatihou between now and the end of the festival, Sunday, August 25, 2024.
