On Wednesday, Meta revealed a new pair of Ray-Ban-labeled smart glasses with a built-in display for apps, alarms and directions on the right lens. The smart glasses are controlled by a bracelet that picks up on subtle hand gestures, called Meta Neural Band, the same revealed at last year’s Connect as part of his Orion demo.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new product, called Meta Ray-Ban Display, on stage at the company’s annual developer conference, Meta Connect 2025. Unlike Orion, Zuckerberg says this is a product that people can buy in a few weeks, starting 30 September and they cost $ 799.
This is Meta’s latest attempt to send a peer of consumer smart glasses that can handle Mayy of the tasks users traditionally do on a smartphone. For years, Meta has been forced to reach users through its competitors’ devices, namely those sold by Google and Apple. While Meta has invested billions in Virtual Reality headsets, AI-Powled Smart Glasses now seems like the most promanent way for the company to connect to users on its own hardware.
With the Meta Ray-Ban display, Meta aims to build the success of its original Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses, which the company has been sold millions of Peirs with its eye-clothing partner, Essilorluxottica. Like the Ray-Ban Meta, Meta Ray-Ban display is equipped with a onboard AI assistant as well as cameras, speakers and microphones. The glasses let users connect to the cloud to access the Internet and apps on social media.
Meta says the screen allows users to do much more with their smart glasses. Users are able to display Meta apps like Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Users can also see directions and watch live translations in Smart Glasses’ display.
The Neuel band sent along the device looks like a fitbit, but without a screen and allows users to navigate apps with small hand gestures. Zuckerberg said on stage that Meta Neural Band has 18 hours of battery life and is water resistant.
The device uses electromyography (EMG) to retrieve signals feel between your brain and your hand when performing a gesture. Meta is betting that this interface will be a new way users can control their devices.

Earlier this week, a video of Meta’s latest smart glasses leaked. CNBC and Bloomberg reported earlier that smart glasses that became internal codename Hypernova would be revealed at this year’s Connect Conference.
It is worth noting that the Meta Ray-Ban-Ban-Ban display is far less able than Orion Smart Glasses Meta showed by Connect 2024. This device contained increased reality lenses and eye tracking, while this pair uses a much simpler screen. It can be years before Meta ever SALS ORON.
Still, Meta hopes it can win the Smart Glasses race by being first on the market with a real product. However, it looks like Google and Apple will start their own smart glasses in the coming years. These devices will undoubtedly be able to integrate into Google and Apple’s respective operating systems, giving them a significant leg over meta.
