It’s been a long wait for the return of Strange new worlds: Almost two full years ago Cliffhanger of Season Two’s ending. It all resumes in next week’s season three premiere, where we pick up where we got off with Enterprise crew. And even if it was quite a place to leave them, we forgive you if you are unclear about the details. Here are a few things to remember from the final and things to know about the next season as we get ready to return to the world of Star Trek.
Gorn’s grip
Season two of Strange new worlds ended in a serious situation. With the independent colony of parnassus beta invaded by gorn – which destroys Federation Starship USS Caguya and leaving the remaining crew and the civilian population to be swapped by gorn on the surface – the surface Enterprise Found themselves attempts to mount a rescue mission against all odds.
It was a rescue mission that didn’t go well. We know at least a little about how some of this will play out. Beam up, Scotty …
Back to the Gorn situation. The second successful escapation of the incident at Parnassus Beta along with Pike and Batel was none other than a young Lieutenant Montgomery Scott (played by Martin Quinn), who had successfully hidden on the planet after his own research ship was attacked by Gorn. Now on board EnterpriseIn season three, it seems that Scotty will formally be integrated into the engineering team, creating its possible increase through the ranks to become the ship’s chief engineer. However, he is not there yet, as we know that Carol Kane’s commander Pelia remains responsible for the department for at least some of this season.
… and Kirk too?
Paul Wesley’s young Kirk is returning apparently at least a few times this season and finds several ways to easily aboard the ship he is destined to take over in a few years. When we last saw him in the musical episode he had been brought aboard Enterprise To begin a command training program, prepare the current lieutenant for his future ascension to Captain. It is a theme that will return this season if the latest trailer for the show is something to pass by, it suggests that there will actually be an emergency at a time this season that will see Kirk, at least temporarily, commanders Enterprise.
Just why Kirk wants to continue crossing paths with the crew, he will eventually lead, still see, but we know from trailers that he is in at least a few episodes: one who puts the crew in his own retro riff on a 60s Esque Sci-Fi show in the original vein of the original TrekAnd another where there is a retro mood of another kind with a murder-mysty twist. But we also know from the same trailers that Kirk is getting a drink in Enterprise Lounge with Scotty, so he meets a good bunch of his future crew slowly but surely.
The beginning of the end
While it is difficult to say how much this will affect the story of this upcoming season – production in season four has been running for a while now after it was confirmed last April – we are on our way into season three, knowing about it Strange new worlds Now have an endpoint.
It was announced just last month that the show will end with a truncated fifth season, which means a lot of the things we’ve touched upon here with regard to Enterprise‘s future timeline, from the arrival of well -known crew to things like Pike’s fate, will now probably be created even more during this and the remaining two seasons beyond that. Just as we are ready to consider a five-year mission that comes to an end, the most famous of all must begin at some point!
